Analysing movie trailers

The Wolverine trailer

This movie was released on the 25th of July 2013. The genre for this is hybrid. It is a mixture of action, adventure and fantasy. The ratings were 7/10 overall with 341 critics as the viewers. Wolverine is summoned to Japan by an old friend and is forced to fight against demons in his way. Hugh Jackman plays the role of the fierce Wolverine.

Genre

This is an action trailer because it shows many scenes of Wolverine slashing his enemies with his claws. Also, there are allies of him who try to help get rid of these demons.

It is also an adventure film because Wolverine travels to Japan from America to seek a new life. He is confronted by demons and carries on his movements all of the country of Japan.

It's a fantasy because Wolverine meets a girl from Japan who have a good relationship and attempt to save each other in battle.

Role Models

This inappropriate film (for the under 15) was released on the 9th January 2009. There plenty of sexual scenes and the uses of swear words -hence the age rating- which could make these characters not only role models to their children, but to immature youngsters too. The rating for the movie is 6.9. The genre is Comedy because there is a good amount of laughter in the trailer as well as the film. The trailer shows there recklessness caused the pair to join a 'Big Brother Program' where they have to be a 'Role Model' in front of the one child.

Genre

The genre is a comedy film trailer. I know this because Danny and Wheeler (the main characters) both have to advertise an energy drink which they don't really like themselves. Danny is depressed about his life -mainly his job- and negative things keep coming his way. An utterly unlucky thing happened to Danny (when he came out of the school) ; his work truck was getting towed. He decided to drive the van -whilst it was being towed- up onto the school's water fountain.Comedy is funny when things go wrong.

The football factory

This adrenalin pumping film of Chelsea Football fans is rated for over 18's. I would recommend all Chelsea fans to watch this film. It is about English football violence between two different teams away from the football stadiums. This is more like a religion towards these football hooligans and would fight until the end for their team. From the trailer I can tell that nearly every game of football these, Chelsea fans have a fight.

Genre

The rating for this film is 6.7. The genre is crime, drama and sport:

The crime in this is when they all have many fights.

The sport is about football

Camera shots

This post will be about the different camera shots we took in class:

This shot is an over shoulder shot of the the teacher and new pupil having a conversation. This lets viewers know that a new student is being welcomed into the classroom by the teacher.

This shot is a over the shoulder one of the teacher and pupil. The teacher is instructing the pupil were his seat is.
This shot is a medium shot of the new student working. This helps to infer that the student is working in his book.
This shot is an over the shoulder shot of pupils bullying the new student. This would make people think perhaps he is being bullied.
This one is a medium close up of the new student and a medium shot of the bullies. This shot shows he is being physically bullied by the students.
This is a medium close up of another teacher who has observed the bullying. The teacher shows up at the door and doesn't looked pleased by the disgusting behaviour.
This is a long shot of all the characters. Teacher is telling students off.
This is a close up of the names of the bullies going onto the consequence board. The students are now in serious trouble.

4 Key Media Concepts about the game: F1 2012

Language: Formula 1 is a sport where 22 drivers and 12 teams compete to win a single Grand Prix a race. They also pursue their challengers to the top or try to defend or acquire the Formula 1 Championship. The game speaks to its F1 fans by persuading them into buying the game and sport they love and live their dream. Obviously its just a simulator where players can pick any of the existing drivers (only from that season) ton race with. The Formula 1 show is basically the advertisement of the F1 2012 game.

Institution: Codemasters Birmingham and Feral interactive are the developers of this realistic game. The platform are Playstation 3, Xbox 360, Microsoft Windows. The game includes all of the tracks from Formula 1 2012 season. It also has features from inside the car such as: DRS, Kers, handbrake and many more. There is a career mode for those who like to live their dream by driving and competing in Formula 1 - the game. I think the main objective is obtain the fans of Formula 1 (in reality) into liking the F1 2012 game.

Representation: The image at the top of the page is the front cover of the Formula 1 2012 game. The only difference is that it doesn't show the console it would be played on. The cars on the front are the F1 Mclaren  racing car and the F1 William racing team. I assume that the blue colour in the background of the front cover is there to show how alive and interesting the game will be once you purchase it. On the right of the cover, it shows a stadium (can't identify which one). Like I mentioned in the second concept - institution- Codemasters and Feral interactive developed the game. The target audience is for mostly males than females. In my opinion 85% of males play the F1 2012 game and 15% of females play the game. However, there are probably more women who watch Formula 1, (the races in reality) than the amount who play the game. The game is missing many key features such as: the podium (for the top 3 positions at the end of the race), when a F1 car crashes or grazes another car/object, there should be more damage.

This crash is a major one
so this is realistic at least.

Audience: The ages which I think would involve themselves with this game are 8-65 year old. More males than females would play this (I have written a specific percentage above). Fans of F1 would be most likely to play the game and people who like to play racing games would buy and play the F1 2012 game. The graphics could make people believe that the game a F1 Gran Prix is on TV.

GT5: a game which has come out the past 2 years

Gran Turismo 5
The real driving simulator

Gran Turismo 5 is an utterly realistic ‘Playstation’ game. Down to the marks on the track to the sponsors all over the sport racing tracks and cars. The release date of this extraordinary game would have to be in November 24/25 2010. The genre of the game is in the slogan ‘Racing Simulator’, the platform is only for Playstation 3 consoles and it clearly states that on the top right of the case below the symbol of Playstation Network. The price of the game (when it was released) was around £45 - £50 in all shops in the U.K. However, Gran Turismo would also come in a bundle with a Playstation 3 -how I obtained my Gran Turismo-. I’ve found out, when I researched about the reviews, that critic reviews on the game were like this: positive 66, mixed 16 and negative were 0. That is terribly astonishing. The user reviews were like the following: Positive was 250, mixed was 41 and negative was 77. That must prove its worth buying. Over a whopping 70 million copies of Gran Turismo 5 were sold.

The company that developed the game is called polyphony Digital, the publisher were Sony Computer Entertainment and the designer is by the company called Kazunori Yamauchi. These company’s logos are on the front cover of the case.

These images are from a magazine which has included or are about the game Gran Turismo.

This is one of the trailers in the game that I have chosen to add onto the blog.

GT5 worked really hard to advertise their game by working with Playstation -only- and wanted to add the game as a bundle. This would mean Gran Turismo 5 would be identified with the PS3. They also had posters, TV advertisements, magazines and Facebook/Twitter ads. It was really beneficial because 77 million copies were sold.

There are many users posting their races, tutorials or cars onto YouTube. Also, players of Gran Turismo 5 have attempted to remake/ edit a new GT5 trailer. In my opinion, if I wasn’t searching for the specific Gran Turismo 5 trailer, they were alright because mainly one person made the trailer up themselves. Otherwise, the semi- pro trailers were irritating because those weren’t the ones I wanted to add to the blog.

I would think 14-50 year olds would play the game because teenagers would prefer to drive fancy, fast and brilliantly looking cars and Gran Turismo includes the following: Bugatti Veyron, Mercedes SLS AMG, Fernando Alonso’s Ferrari F1 car and many more (the cars I have in GT5). Although Gran Turismo 5 has cars for teenagers liking, they also have the classic old cars for the older which would around the ages mostly of 27-50. They also cost a lot of money in Gran Turismo 5.

The majority of males would probably prefer to play GT5, than girls. I says 75 of males would play GT5 and 25 Percent of females would play the game. This is because whenever I play Gran Turismo 5, I have never come across a female and this is my evidence.

The promotion of Gran Turismo 5 was successful I know this because Playstation 3 added the game as a bundle as a positive way for the game and PS3 to promote itself.

HSBC advert (words and pictures)

The HSBC advert will be posted in the majority of airports around the World. This was created on Photoshop by myself. The images are from Google images because unfortunately, I wasn't there to take any of these pictures above myself.
The sources I used were Photoshop and Google images. Firstly, Photoshop helped me because I could edit the size and form of the pictures which I exported from Google images. As you can see, I have wrote -on each picture- confidence. This represents that the stars are professional at their jobs; all of them have pressure on their shoulders; therefore, they all need confidence whilst performing their duty/job.
Also, the pictures from the advert don't all  suggest that all of the people in the pictures have confidence. For example, Fernando Torres is a Chelsea footballer lacking confidence.

The hunger games campaign

The Hunger games campaign. I drew out an image of an eagle which would represent the Mockingjay in the film. Then, I drew out an image of a bow and arrow. The way I did this was by sticking the A4 piece of paper onto the computer screen, which meant that I could then trace over the images. The bow and arrow is to demonstrate that the weapon will be used in the Hunger Games and it'll be deadly. I then added color to make the eagle look more appealing so customers would be likely to buy the product especially if The Hunger games is really popular.
The image will be mixed with the name of the game 'The Hunger Games' on billboards, on the bus, TV, YouTube and cinema. I think all these places would help the game sell well because then many people would be able to recognize the game and could consider buying the game.
I think the campaign went well because we worked well as a group. This could help us work easier because all of us listened to each other.

textual analysis

Genre
From the clip I can tell that the genre is thriller and crime. When the men followed the police officer into the toilet demanding for his supposed watch. The police officer wasn't scared because his body language told us he can defend himself. The guns make the movie more interesting and that's where the thriller comes into play.

Audience
I think that, from the 58 second clip, people who are 12-35 years of age would probably watch this action film because it includes guns and gangsters. Male: 60% Females: 40%. I think this because it includes guns.
