4 Key Media Concepts about the game: F1 2012

Language: Formula 1 is a sport where 22 drivers and 12 teams compete to win a single Grand Prix a race. They also pursue their challengers to the top or try to defend or acquire the Formula 1 Championship. The game speaks to its F1 fans by persuading them into buying the game and sport they love and live their dream. Obviously its just a simulator where players can pick any of the existing drivers (only from that season) ton race with. The Formula 1 show is basically the advertisement of the F1 2012 game.

Institution: Codemasters Birmingham and Feral interactive are the developers of this realistic game. The platform are Playstation 3, Xbox 360, Microsoft Windows. The game includes all of the tracks from Formula 1 2012 season. It also has features from inside the car such as: DRS, Kers, handbrake and many more. There is a career mode for those who like to live their dream by driving and competing in Formula 1 - the game. I think the main objective is obtain the fans of Formula 1 (in reality) into liking the F1 2012 game.

Representation: The image at the top of the page is the front cover of the Formula 1 2012 game. The only difference is that it doesn't show the console it would be played on. The cars on the front are the F1 Mclaren  racing car and the F1 William racing team. I assume that the blue colour in the background of the front cover is there to show how alive and interesting the game will be once you purchase it. On the right of the cover, it shows a stadium (can't identify which one). Like I mentioned in the second concept - institution- Codemasters and Feral interactive developed the game. The target audience is for mostly males than females. In my opinion 85% of males play the F1 2012 game and 15% of females play the game. However, there are probably more women who watch Formula 1, (the races in reality) than the amount who play the game. The game is missing many key features such as: the podium (for the top 3 positions at the end of the race), when a F1 car crashes or grazes another car/object, there should be more damage.

This crash is a major one
so this is realistic at least.

Audience: The ages which I think would involve themselves with this game are 8-65 year old. More males than females would play this (I have written a specific percentage above). Fans of F1 would be most likely to play the game and people who like to play racing games would buy and play the F1 2012 game. The graphics could make people believe that the game a F1 Gran Prix is on TV.

  1. WWW: This is a detailed analysis and you've picked out plenty of key details. Your institution research is very good.
EBI: Language isn't quite right - you needed to pick out the key conventions of the advert that tell the audience what type of text it is (title, image, logos, release date etc.)
LR: Go back and improve your language paragraph.
